Lexus LS460

Lexus LS460 is the new model in the line of luxury car. It has an extended wheel base version called LS 460 L. This extended feature provides more legroom for the passengers.

Introduction

Lexus LS460 was first introduced in North American International Auto Show in 2006. In 2007, the 4th generation LS was produced in long and standard wheel base versions. LS460 features a standard 2,969 mm wheel base, while LS 460 L uses stretched 3,091 mm wheel base.

Engine Specs

The standard and extended models are equipped with 1UR-FSEV8 engine having a displacement of 4.6L for delivering power of 380HP and torque of 367 lbs.-ft. It is mated to an automatic 8 speed transmission. It covers 0-100Kmph in 5.7sec.

2007-09 LS 460

The LS model was incomparable with the remaining models of Lexus. It was introduced as Super LS, which came under ultra-luxury category costing $100,000. Externally, LS got a new design direction named L-finesse. The vehicle got the body forms from LF-SH concept: length, arrow-structured chrome trim, wheel arches, crystalline headlamps and low set grilles.



Interior of LS460 featured push button for start, transistor instrument display, and abundant luxurious options starting from HDD based GPS, song library, XM navigation traffic, and heated steering wheel.

The offered standard equipments were front passenger seats with seat heaters and lumbar adjustment, power driving, leather upholstery, power moon-roof, trunk pass through, and finest sound system. Climate controls included the ceiling air diffusers and body temperature sensors through infrared.

In LS 460 L, seating package had a DVD entertainment for rear seat, shiatsu massaging seat, and swivel table tray.

First automatic parallel parking feature in US was introduced in LS 460, which helped in pre-selected parking. Other assist features were radar cruise control, brake-hold mechanism, electric variable gear ratio, electronic braking, and improved stability control.



The price of 2007 LS 460 and LS 460 was $61,000 and $71,000, but later as the packages increased the price of the models exceeded $80,000.
In 2008, the LS 460 and LS 460 L models were offered with all-wheel drive, which was first premiered in Moscow International Motor Show.

2009 to Present LS460

The latest model of LS 460 was revised in the year 2009 and 2010. The 2009 model included an Intelligent Transport System, which had road-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle information technologies.



The revised models have rear fascia and restyled front, new wheel designs and turn signal near side mirror. The new added technologies include automatic beam lights, self-repairable clean coat of exterior paint. For standard model, additional chrome trim has been introduced. DVD entertainment is optional for the new models and is located behind center arm-rest.



The sport version of LS 460 features equipments like brembo brakes, sport-tuned air suspension, forged wheels, body kit, paddle shifters, and distinctive interior. It also gets a direct shift sport transmission, which is found in IS F model. Along with the above said transmission, it also has manual mode and reverse down shift capability. For the Japan customers a new customization program for interior known as L-select is available.

Lexus LS460 is more luxurious and promises you a comfortable drive. It is cheaper in comparison to other luxurious segments in the same line-up. Its filled menu of high technologies makes it hard to fault.

2012 LS 460

LS 460 Sport is a special edition for the year 2012. Based on the regular wheelbase and rear wheel drive, it includes 19-inch alloy wheels with summer tires. It comes with sport-tuned air suspension, Brembo brakes, unique grille, front sport seats, paddle shifters, and power door closers.
